It's kinda different to Game of Thrones. The violence is more sudden and more unsettling. Game of Thrones is just softcore porn across the spectrum of transgression.

I've watched the first three episodes now. It's a clever and interesting show. I remembered what bothered me about it though: ultraviolence, some of which is really pretty gratuitous.

I don't normally get bothered by violence in the slightest, but something about the degree of what's shown combined with the relatively light tone skeezes me out.

For example it has a pretty pointless and extended scene where a bound character is tortured by having chillies, sand, and bleach applied to his eyes and face, then has an eye scooped out with a spoon.

Anyway, apart from that it's a decent political satire slash thriller with a lot of nifty twists and turns.

that torture scene was awesome. i think i missed my calling, i should have been working for the CIA.

Been wanting to watch that but missed it when it was on here. Have downloaded the first couple of seasons but not got around to it yet.

Finished Person of Interest season3 last night. Breathtaking ending to an incredible season and will be fascinating to see where they go from here.

Saw the first season of The Returned, since both Klaus and Burnsy spoke highly of it, and it was interesting. Still have no idea why the little boy seems to have other 'gifts' than the rest of them, and what his role is. Can't really say with any certainty at all why they have returned, the selection of the people returned, the importance of the old village, or how the second season will play out.

Anyone watch Extant? Thought it might be good but didn't like the first episode at all. I love a good sci-fi so hope it improves.

Just finished season 2 of Arrow. What an incredible season. One of the best seasons of any show I've seen.

I just finished the first series. I thought it was a terrific watch too. Tennant and Colman made a great partnership. The whole show was refreshingly free of clichées and boring sexual innuendo between the main characters.

Yeah, can see why it had a massive following in the UK. I see the the US are doing a version with David Tennant in the same role.

I've hated Laurel but there is no doubt she's sticking around. So I. That case I'd rather she became something instead of being a pointless, powerless damsel in distress the whole time.

Dinah (mom) Laurel Lance was the Canary. Series doesn't quite follow the comics.

my main sticking point with the show were some of the odd, not quite believable motivations...
Tired of being lied to, even though reasons are understandable, sis follows evil real dad?
Long lost daughter rejoins cult of assassins... sis and dad happy for her?
quite a few little things like that.

Well she didn't rejoin the League of Assassins, there is no out of that AFAIK. Im not sure cos I don't read comics. The sister didn't really follow the dad whole heartedly, she's wary and doesn't trust anyone. It's just an escape for now. Interesting plot line hopefully.

Fair enough, though I thought running off with her ex who coincidentally is daughter of the head of the League of Assassins and one of its lieutenants implies she's gone back to them. Back to stabby stabby stuff. Not always of crooks.

I watched The Strain last night. Fuck me, that was an awesome pilot. Don't read up on it, don't watch any trailers. Just watch the episode with as little knowledge as possible. This is probably going to be my new favourite show. It had so many b-film qualities.

Got True Detective on DVD. Me and missus really enjoyed it. Fabulous writing, and a little disturbing at times. Wasn't sold on the little excursion into the bikie drug world, but apart from that thought it was excellent. Both lead actors were fantastic, with great support from Michelle Monaghan.
