They are very aware of the financial juggernaut the club has become, but it means frakk all to them when the club is no closer to any stability on the pitch since SAF departed. Their biggest concern/fear is that the big player signings are prioritised in terms of commercial value ahead of what the team needs.

I am thankful that we are not alone in trying to get things sorted on and off the pitch.

United are just utterly hopeless in terms of their high level decision making.

They haven't made a single managerial appointment as good as Emery since Ferguson left, that's how bad they are. In this period every other top club in the league has had better results from its approach to coaching and recruitment.

They're going into next season with Solskjaer as senior coach for fuck's sake. That's after Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho all having the worst experiences of their respective managerial careers and burning hundreds of millions of pounds on mismanaged stars.

Lack of patience. If I had as much money as United, I’d actually have the confidence that I have time to definitely beat everyone bar City. So I would look for the best up and coming manager and DoF in the game and spare no expense to get them. Then I’d let them build their perfect team, taking their time to get rid of rubbish like Sanchez and bringing in the best young talent in the world. A bit like Liverpool but with more money.

It's sad that we chose this specific season to be out of Champions League. We could've got the jump on Lampard's Chelsea and Solskjaer's United

Looks like we won't be signing any quality players unless we sell. But nobody wants to buy Mustafi, Xhaka, Mhiki, Ozil , Elneny or Jenko unless we give them away.

Most of these guys will probably be 2nd or 3rd choice targets, meaning if they are to leave it will probably be towards the end of the transfer window when their options become narrower.

Only takeaway for me, for those still wondering

#AFC were the only club in England’s Big Six to see revenue fall in 2018. In fact, their £38m growth since 2016 is miles lower than their main rivals, four of whom had revenue growth above £100m. Most painfully, in this time #THFC have closed the gap from £141m to just £10m.

I just don't know what has happened in the past 5 years. Up until around 2013/2014, Arsenal were run as well as anybody. Then almost complete collapse. Perhaps it was Gazidis exerting his influence as his power grew, or Wenger getting old and not working miracles? Or perhaps Wenger changed and had so much control himaelf it killed us? Regardless of what caused the shocking decline, to go from where we were in 2013 to where we are now is gross mismanagement.

I can only hope that, given that he's not going anywhere, Kroenke couldn't manouver the club in the direction he wanted and thought was best because he didn't own the club outright and didn't have the authority to sack Wenger or Gazidis, make sweeping changes etc. It's probably wishful thinking, but perhaps things will run differently now the club is his? There has certainly been a lot of changes in the past 12 months, but that could just be the reaction to the decline worsening.

Ricky, I think the biggest issues happened with Wenger. We got caught in a series of 1-2 year plans, hoping that Wenger would do enough to keep us in the top 4 or a little more. The problem with that is on the field it meant that we focused on buying players to accomplish this objective, resulting in a continuation of older/mediocre purchases.

What we needed in that period was a strong football executive to balance Wenger who would’ve rather built for the future regardless of Wenger’s plans. This would’ve ensured we were continuously integrating younger players, and buying young players with value who could then be sold for profit as happens at other big clubs.

Wenger over-stayed. By 4-5 years. Or the changes that happened with Sanllehi/Mislintat were 4-5 years too late. That is what you are seeing now.

I've been banging on about this for a while, It isn't really any great mystery. A lack of CL football coinciding with a soaring CL wage bill will do that for you.

One silver lining is that's it's finally forced the club to try and become more efficient and put a strategy in place, we'd become far too complacent.

Wenger stayed on way too long. It was obvious he should have left back in ca. 2012-2013, but far too many thought he would turn it around. Add Kroenke and Gazidis to that mix, and the collapse was inevitable (in hindsight at least).
