The funny thing Burnsy is that in places like that (and Asia as Capi alluded to) is that people don't get stressed or angry
It's more that showing signs of stress and anger is a way of losing face. However, it's true that driving in traffic is a totally different thing in other countries. For instance in loads of places, beeping is more to do with communication than blame or anger.
And while the relaxed character is true of some Asian countries I've been to - especially the "lower vehicle" Buddhist countries of SE Asia like Cambodia, Thailand and Laos - it's not true of Mongolia, which is one of the more aggressive places I've been to.
Had a hair-raising experience there with a guy who pissed on the side of the car I was in and then pulled a knife, and in general there are quite a few obscure ways to offend a Mongolian unto violence.
That said, the place I've been that seemed the most crime-ridden of all is around the east side of Paris ...
