We're quite multicultural you know Jonesy. There was a minor scuffle over the Tories making a rhyming slogan "it won't be easy under Albanese" - Albanese said people with surnames like his have always been made fun of growing up in Australia. But anything Italian is pretty mainstream these days.

Don't get me wrong Asterix - I think it sounds hilarious precisely because I know plenty of Albanian people. Albanese in Italian sounds 'natural', Albanese with English pronunciation sounds like you're ridiculing the demonym or derivation of the country's name. Growing up we used to joke about those names too although not about the people's origin but about old white people who couldn't get the names right, i.e. instead of Albanien you'd hear Albalonian or even Saudi Albania 😆

My Kosovar Albanian, Italy-educated mate was quite pleased to have an "Albanese" as Prime Minister, however the Greeks are now apparently trying to claim him …

I don't know if you're aware of this Jones, but in Australia the man's referred to as "Albo" (which I've had muted on Twitter for about seven years) more often than he's called "Albanese" in any given accent!

No had no idea, shamefully I don't follow Australian politics that religiously. The Santamaria bloke you've quoted me earlier is a good reminder to not change that, some of your politicians would make Franz Josef "to the right of us is only the wall" Strauß blush.
