Shaping up to be another one of those depressing transfer windows with every rival strengthening and we'll end up taking an opening day loss from Liverpool with Giroud and Walcott starting in the forward positions.
And Wenger will spread wisdom like "Look at Iceland, it's not all about the big names" around.
I don't like the utter lack of concrete links either. It makes me think that we're not really working on any particular target. We're just bobbing along and looking for potentially worthwhile deals.
That is how we have been working under Wenger to be fair. It's also arguably true that it's not about the big names as long as you have a good manager with a clear defined structure to get the best out of your player ala Leicester. We know Wenger isn't the one though.
So many positions and options to strengthen too. We arguably need backups for RB and LB, a commanding CB, another attacking mid and a top striker. I just laughed when Wenger said we could only sign 3 players maximum per season so as not to break the bond the squad has formed.
I think our problem is there are no takers/suitable clubs for our players. We are struggling to offload Ox, Theo and Gibbs for various reasons so we can't get their replacements in.
