Saw something the other day where Aubameyang, after accepting his award, flat out said to a reporter he isn't going to Arsenal.

He has no great incentive to come here. Money, location and a CHANCE at trophies isn't enough for someone who is one of the top scorers of the year.

We have better players than him who have come here, so obviously incentives must exist.

Those guys came here AFTER playing for Madrid and Barca. They were out of favor at their clubs. Some incentives do exist, but, like I said, they're not enough for someone who has already said he wants to play in Spain.

There's definitely an upside to coming here for Aubameyang, but there's also a risk. I reckon we'll have to win the league first if we want to be able to attract top players without any mitigating circumstances.

In terms of English clubs that don't win trophies, United could offer him twice the wages we can, for instance. It's not immediately obvious to a neutral observer why he'd pick us above them. They keep investing heavily in their squad each season too.

Those are the only clubs he wants to go to, and I don't think we can offer enough to change his mind. Someone like Gotze, we do have a chance for, because he's already played for one of the top clubs and seen it not work out for him, which is kind of how we got Ozil and Sanchez to come to us. For Aubameyang, it'll probably be his last move of the career (at the top), so yep no way he'll think about joining us.

That is what I said on the previous page too. Win the league, and we can start talking.

You'd have to be an utter idiot being a striker thinking you'd play much if you go to Barcelona. Going to Real Madrid is about the same, unless you feel confident you will oust Benzema. Not quite the same coming to Arsenal.

The papers persist with this story despite the firm denials from Dortmund and Aubameyang. Claims that Dortmund want 54m pounds. With an unproven Martial going for up to 60m, and Everton allegedly wanting 65m for Lukaku, this is a number to negotiate if the speculation is real.
