Aye, no point in going after big names exclusively. Just find someone with the right attributes and offer them the job. That's how every successful manager ever has been appointed, including Arséne himself back in the days.

The main problem is that I don't think there's a single person at the club except for Wenger who's capable of recognising the right attributes in a potential manager.

Yes - this is exactly the worry. You wonder if Ivan will read some red tops, put those names in a hat and draw one out. "ooh look - Frank de Boer!"

This approach is actually ok so long as the names in the hat are ok.

Why after Messi retires?

It was more about his usual 3 year cycle I think. Three at City, 3 at Juve and Messi will be 34. Probably still playing but not at his peak any more and Pep will get to influence who is signed to replace him. I wasn't suggesting they don't get on or anything like that.

What would Wenger know about recognising the right attributes in a potential manager?
He can't even recognise that he himself doesn't have them.

I'd like the next manager, whenever that is, to excel at playing proper power football. That's the type I love to watch the most. Athletic, fast, technically sound players that can rip teams apart in the blink of an eye.

Klopp is probably the best at that around at the moment, but he'll be at Liverpool for a long time is my bet. Maybe this Tuchel has it in him to take on a club like Arsenal at some point in the future? I'd like to see how he does further down the line when Klopp's influence has completely worn off and he has a few more of his own players and ideas.

It has to be Tuchel. If we don't get him this summer or next, then we won't get him in the near future.

City/Bayern already being linked with him in 3-4 years time. Love Wenger, but we need a new manager.

Wenger seems to prefer to raise his players morale and boost confidence and then tell the players to stay focused and try to get the job done with little tactics involved.

Only really have the time and inclination to watch Arsenal this season, but PSG I really enjoyed when I saw them against Chelsea over two legs, Barcelona are always decent to watch but that's not because of their style it's because they have three attackers that are as good as it gets. Don't really watch much Premier League football but Everton can be good to watch when they're on song. Still think we're the best to watch when we're in form - which is rare these days admittedly - loved our football when we thrashed Leicester at their stadium earlier in the season. Absolutely ripped them apart on the counter.

There are a variety of very watchable teams that a neutral is more likely to enjoy - Leicester, PSG, Dortmund come to mind. Spurs are also relentless - would be good to watch if you didn't puke in your mouth a little each time Kane scores

There hasn't been a sustained period, but I think our games against Leicester and United were good to watch. Though both of those involved moments of magic from Sanchez to get us a solid win.

we've been dreary. i enjoyed seeing us beat Leicester and United, but it wasn't classic Arsenal. and we've had moments of joy in recent years. when Ramsey was playing above himself, we were a delight to watch
