One More on the Telly

QuincyAbeyie

Well, at the very least I'm loving the show so far. Just caught up with the three episodes.

Sicario2

Anyone watch Rest is Football on Netflix during this WC? Quite good although I feel they swear now for the sake of it and it’s losing its meaning

MistaT

A little different than the usual films discussed here, but has any one watched Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse

I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Got a little guy these days who is getting into comics/Spiderman, and this was a fantastically done animated movie. Normally I don't appreciate animations/visualisations but the mediums and color choices for this really drew me in.

Mirth

MistaT yes! Have you watched ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ as well?

MistaT

Mirth Apologies, I actually meant "Into the Spider-Verse"....got them mixed up.

Qwiss

Also Spider Noir has its own series now which Nic Cage as the lead (voices Spider Noir in the animated movie). Its quite good. Don't watch it with kids though its quite violent.

Mirth

MistaT nice, the second one is even better

MistaT

Mirth huzzah, excited for the second!

Claudius

They’re both excellent flicks.

Sicario2

Jose documentary on Netflix 👏👏👏

Probably the biggest winner/cunt in the history of the game.

A lot, a lot of similarities with his first spell at Chelsea and Mikel last season.

Even if you don’t like him still worth watching as a football fan.

Whatever you say about him he got his players to die on the pitch for him, that HT speech he gave in the Nou Camp when Barca played Inter in 2010 seemed incredible 🔥

Claudius

Sicario2 you have a game with Guardiola, Ancelotti, Sacchi, Ferguson, Clough, Shankly, Bubsy, Cruyff, etc. and Mourinho’s your king?

Sicario2

Claudius the last 4 you put are greats but were before my time. I would put him above Ancelotti and Saachi though. Winning the CL with Porto and Inter are pound for pound some of the greatest managerial achievements ever.

Anyway , I didn’t say he was the best manager of all time. I said he was the biggest winner as he is the manager willing to do anything to win.

QuincyAbeyie

These Netflix documentaries where the main subject is in on it are just puff pieces.

Qwiss

No interest in watching a hagiography about Mourinho.

Mirth

The only Mourinho documentary I want to see is an All or Nothing about Real Madrid's upcoming season.

Claudius

Mirth Less All, more Nothing for the special one

Gurgen

All these sycophantic documentaries are terrible. They made a whole miniseries about Nadal without acknowledging that there are some medical and moral questions to be asked about injecting a guy with everything under the sun for 20 years.

Gurgen

Or....... you could just take them for what they are, interesting to find a little more out about these people. I really liked the Nadal one, and the wife and I commented at the time about the injections he had to take. But he did what he had to do to stay in the game. Not sure i would call them sycophantic though

Qwiss

Gurgen I watched the Lone Michaels documentary last week. He's a notoriously harsh character but it was barely mentioned.

Gurgen

One thing people can do when injured is heal and recover instead of killing pain signals with chemicals. It’s insane that this is normalised (also in football) and that people who call themselves doctors engage in such practices.

Meatwad

Gurgen
they do it because they have a short time available to them to perform at the highest level and they don't want to waste too much of that time "healing". sacrifices have to be made.

Gurgen

Meatwad cycling banned injections during the season so people cannot make such “sacrifices” any more. Football and tennis should follow suit. It’s bizarre that you don’t seem to find anything wrong with this.
