The Good Place, Fleabag, and like mentioned Parks & Rec and 30 Rock.

Edit: Trial & Error is a very underwatched and short-lived, but great comedy.

Oh and catastrophe. That's a brilliant little show that mixes british and american humor. That's probably been my favorite new comedy to come out in the last 5 years

It's very gentle, but SCHITT'S CREEK is also pretty hilarious, particularly Catherine O'Hara as Moira. The way she delivers her lines creases me.

I didn't actually enjoy the bits I saw of many of the other shows being mentioned, COMMUNITY, BROOKLYN 99 etc.

Schitt's Creek has been one of my favourite shows too since I stumbled over it last year, Burnsy. Gentle is a good way to describe it I think. It really grows on you.

I think the hardest trick that it successfully pulls off is to make all of its characters terribly sympathetic without eradicating that vain, self-obsessed streak in them that also makes them very funny.

Yeah, I agree. There's no "straight man" character among the Roses who's a foil for the zany Kramer and George Costanza types—all four of them are madcap. Moira is mind-boggling though, her elocution alone makes the show worth watching. Even when my attention drifts I find myself pulled back in by the absurd way some word has been pronounced.

I'm into the sixth and most recent season now and it's all wrapping itself up rather neatly, perhaps too neatly, but the absence of venom and nihilism, and the consistently great comedic stylings of all the main cast are satisfying.

A SUCCESSION versus SCHITT'S CREEK crossover would be an appealing concept.

The Roys finally go bankrupt and wind up in Schitt's Creek where they're actually awful ultra-elite rich pricks, by contrast to the Roses.

Speaking of which, I mainlined the second season of SUCCESSION in about a day and a half this weekend. Truly addictive and bingeable show and for the most part the standard of the writing is very high. Far, far better than OZARK which I watched a few weeks ago.

I can't believe just how horrible they all are, it makes GAME OF THRONES look soft as shite.

I'm thinking I might check out BLOODLINE to keep the family intrigue going with a dash of Ben Mendehlson too.

I enjoyed Episodes for the British / American crossover humour, and the piss take on TV generally. Matt Le Blanc has fun playing himself, and I like Tamsin Grieg in nearly anything - if you like her check out Friday Night Dinner - excellent stuff.

Watching Donald Trump Jr. interviewing his father and labeling him as a legendary genius or constantly singing his praises on Twitter makes you realize that the Roy experience may not be that far fetched.

I don't think its far fetched at all, its very close to the Murdochs and a few other billionaire media owners and their families.

Shows like that are almost certainly based off insider stories on the likes of the Murdochs, no?

It’s what makes Succession so good, the dynamic between the family is so weird and abnormal, and at the same time it’s very believable and natural.

SUCCESSION is, like, definitely riffing on myths and legends of the Murdochs? They also incorporated a fair bit of Weinstein and Epstein type stuff in season two, of course. "No Real Person Involved" was chilling.

Yes, i believe the creators said the roys are an amalgam of a few mega rich american dynasties, the murdochs being chief among them

So if the Roys are the Murdochs, with a bit of Redstone and Dolan and Trump thrown in, then who are the Pierces?

The first and most obvious answer is that they are the Bancrofts—the family that sold Dow Jones to Rupert Murdoch for $5 billion in 2007. Logan Roy follows the Murdoch playbook almost to the letter, offering far more than the business is worth and promising editorial independence for the acquired properties. (Murdoch then immediately broke that promise, just as Logan implied that he could easily do in his first meeting with Pierce CEO Rhea Jarrell.)

The Bancrofts are far from the only storied media clan in America, however. There are the Chandlers, who owned the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune; the Taylors, who owned the Boston Globe; even the Sulzbergers, who own the New York Times. (The Pierces do seem far too WASPy to be modeled on the Sulzbergers.) What’s more, there’s a big difference between the Pierces and the Bancrofts: The Pierces are proud Democrats, while the Bancrofts were the family ultimately responsible for the far-right Wall Street Journal editorial page.

Just watched Season 2 of Unforgotten - very good British cold case police drama. The acting is spot on, especially from the suspects. Just started season 3.

So many great characters - Pablo Escobar, Pacho and Chepe being my faves!

Chepe runs away with it imo. Barbershop scene is the best in the whole show
