Ah well Burnsy - no accounting for taste outside of football teams is there?! I would agree it was dialled up - a bit of a "star turn", but then I liked that his Hamlet wasn't just a brooding morose bugger. We got to see some humanity from Hamlet, who is after all a young man. He has humour. I quite liked the staging of the production too, and thought Ciaran Hinds and the actor who played Cordelia were also very good.
Alternatively, I saw Henry V at the RSC in Stratford last year, and while it was very good, the staging was more traditional. I've also seen Taming of the Shrew at The Globe. I am quite happy to see Shakespeare done traditionally as well as get mucked around a bit. Not saying you're not - just saying.
