It’s another win. We’ve played a decent pre-season and it’s a good preparation for the first game. It says absolutely nothing but it’s a little title for us, keeps our confidence as high as it was, so we are pretty happy with the performance. My voice is nearly gone and I’m trying my best to speak. Eighty thousand is a great attendance so we have to thank every fan who came along today.

It’s still pre-season. It’s a beginner. It keeps our confidence high and I think we deserved it. Everyone dug in and deserved it.

on Petr Cech…
He has so much experience and that gives us a huge boost before the start of the season. His contribution is massive but let’s not expect too much because he hasn’t been playing for a year. We’re going to try our best and when Alexis Sanchez is back we have a good squad.

I refuse to criticise Wenger for not shaking hands, he is under no compulsion to do so.

Didn't watch the match but great to see us beat them. I'd rather have smashed them 4-0 but winning this way seems to have annoyed Mourinho even more!

Even though in the grand scheme of things the community shield isn't that important but winning trophies is. Need to shake this loser mentality and develop more of a killer streak.

Big monkey of Wenger's back and the teams. You could sense every time we played them we had that pressure. Some in the media will still try to make it out like this was just a friendly but mentally this will help us in future fixtures.

In the past 8 months we've beaten Man City away, United away, Liverpool at home and now Chelsea at Wembley. In all those games we've had a proper defence and were willing to sit back when we had to. It's certainly encouraging to finally get a few big results and also have a proper game plan

I think we have a lot of room for improvement, even with these players.

We were perhaps too intent on protecting our lead that it hampered our play when we won back possession. Both Wenger and Chamberlain mentioned this in their post-match interviews.

Hopefully this win is a confidence-booster for the players and leads to better balance between falling back and just hoofing it clear and playing a smart counter-attacking game the next time we play them.

Stoked about the result, Giroud on the bench & the defensive solidity,
less so with Ozil as LWF nor our inability to get shots on target when 1v1, let alone convert.

Our central midfield is still not good enough. Maybe we do need to keep Ramsey at RWF and get a proper CM in there. Ramsey is too good to not be in first 11, but this Cazorla set up leaves us weak in the ,idle.

If the lineup was correct with Cazorla alongside Coquelin behind Rambo as CAM & Ozil as LWF,
then IMO it marginalises our best player & record signing for the sake of playing Cazorla as DLP next to Coquelin, and also appeasing Rambo by playing him central.
TBH if that's AW's game plan for this summer then stop the train now as I want to get off.

Ozil didn't play wide on the left, nor was Cazorla in midfield and Ramsey wasn't playing as the furthest midfielder.

You can still get off the train.

The 2 lineups I've seen had us playing either 433 with Ozil LWF with Cazorla as CML ,
or 4231 with Cazorla as CM next to Coquelin behind Rambo & Ozil again LWF.

I'm hoping it was meant to be Rambo next to Coquelin with Cazorla LWF & Ozil as CAM, however Ozil did seem to be playing from the flanks and Rambo was looking to get forward & was making runs ahead of the ball when Ox scored.

You obviously didn't watch the game, Anzac, but we played Coq and Ramsey next to each other, Özil ahead of them, and Cazorla on the left. Now, I don't think Cazorla is dynamic enough to hack it on the flank anymore, but him not getting forward too much meant that he could tuck in and help Coquelin out if needed when Ramsey ventured forward.
