Giroud's always been ridiculed by a lot of the French fans though - they don't take him seriously.

Welling striker Sahr Kabba is the first player to be charged by the Football Association under a new rule against feigning injury.
Tranmere defender Ritchie Sutton was shown a red card after an incident in a 1-1 National League draw on Saturday.
Sutton successfully appealed against the decision and Kabba has now been charged for "allegedly exaggerating or feigning an injury which directly led to an opponent being dismissed".
The rule is new for this season.
Kabba - who now faces a three-match ban - has until 11 September to respond to the charge.
Feigning injury to get opponent sent off

Under the rule introduced this season, a player who feigns injury and gets an opponent sent off could face a suspension.

Scenario:

Player A is sent off for violent conduct
Dismissal overturned after the referee reviews the incident and sees that player B had feigned injury
Player B is open to a charge and could face a three-match ban

I think it's a step in the wrong direction, but would have to see more real life examples of how the law will be applied.

Causing an injury does not mean you get sent off though. We already have rules against both dangerous play and foul play. If you tackle someone studs up from behind it doesn't matter whether you hit them or not, for example. It's the act of making the tackle that is illegal and gets punished. I.e. you'd get sent off regardless of whether the opponent is rolling around on the grass. The offense is punished, not the fallout.

But according to the rulework in football, violent conduct isn't determined by whether you cause damage or not. If Player A got sent off it's because of something he did, not something that Player B did. So what exactly does this law do? Is it supposed to just punish players retroactively for exaggerating contact? How do you even go about to determine something like that? You'd be entering complete bullshit territory in no time.

It's like when Uefa decided to ban Eduardo for two games after that Celtic match. Eduardo didn't want his legs swept by an outrushing keeper so of course he jumped. But the foul wasn't determined by contact, it was determined by the fact that Celtic's lump of a keeper missed the ball. There wasn't even a challenge, just an obstruction. Penalty every time, and yet you've got some self-righteous assholes reviewing the footage the next day, after Scottish players and papers have complained loudly about the incident, and coming to the conclusion that there was no contact, and thus it's a dive. I mean it's mindbogglingly stupid.

Bit disappointed to see that rule come in for feigning injury. Surely diving itself would be the better initial target of retroactive punishment.

Finished 2-2, with the worst goalkeeping I've ever seen in a single game. 3 shocking errors, 2 for Kevin Trapp, who was playing instead of Sirigu. Appalling. Bordeaux were down to 10 men by the end, and Cavani (who scored twice) was so pissed he started a fight after FT.

Jones must be very disappointed with that. A keeper he rates really highly.

Just seen the highlights, the first one wasn't as bad, the Bordeaux player got a touch on it about half a yard in front of Trapp. The second one (and PSG's first one) were horrible, but he was in great form before this match and played every game for PSG so far. Neuer also had a shit game the other day, it happens to everyone.

Anyway Wolfsburg is leading at Allianz Arena thanks to a piledriver to Cagliuri. Guilavogui almost doubled their lead with an effort from over 60 yards but hit the post.
