It is a bit odd in Yaya's case though, he's enormously celebrated and has very often in the past been described as the best player in England and the linchpin of City's early successes.

He isn't enormously celebrated and has never been thought of as the best in England. He's highly respected but he's the first to be criticized in that team when things go pear shaped. Aguero got the headlines (and fair enough in many cases). Toure should have got player of the season in 13-14. If Ramsey could have a season like 2013-14 of Toure's we'd win the league. Yes he was going in a similar way before injury but the way Toure would boss games was sensational.

That said Toure definitely has been highly praised, but perhaps he hasn't gotten his just desserts all the same.

Are there a load of other black players who've complained they were not appreciated enough? The likes of Thierry and Drogba seemed to be happy.

What has it got to do with Toure being black? Why are you always trying to bring race into the discussion?

No Toure is not happy with his experiences here or in the ivory coast as the article states but he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder necessarily. It's a term overly used for black people in general. I hate it.
