Bundesliga giants open to selling Arsenal and Chelsea target Mario Gotze
Bundesliga giants open to selling Arsenal and Chelsea target Mario Gotze
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have put the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea on high alert after refusing to rule out selling World Cup winning forward Mario Gotze, according to the Daily Express.

The Premier League trio have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old over the course of the campaign, in which he made 28 appearances, helping him build his reputation on from an impressive World Cup last summer.

Gotze was the golden child of German football following his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2013, but found himself on the receiving end of some criticism from Bayern legend Franz Beckenbauer, who claimed that he needed to grow up.

And the club have not ruled out cashing in on his signature at some point, with Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge remaining coy on his future.

“The duration of his contract is known (until 2017). In addition to that, we are not aware of anything,” Rummenigge.

“There is only one price, and that’s the price of the market, which is controlled by supply and demand.”

However, Bayern intimated that Man United target Bastian Schweinsteiger would not be going anywhere.

Don't care if he's "not the sort of player we need". Get him if its even slightly doable!

I thought there was a chance that Bayern might let him go even before they refused to rule the possibility. I think they'd be tempted by a bid that got them back the fee they paid for him.

Can you include a link to the source please, Ricky?

Soz....Getting old and sloppy!

Pretty vague link.

Anyway, as I've been saying all summer you sign a world class player wherever you can find them, and then make it work afterwards.

I think the following would work quite well:

Mario/Jack - Mesut - Alexis/Ox
--------- Theo/Giroud/Wele

Don't take this the wrong way 🙂  but it's a link for the sake of a link. If you're putting that then you might just add the 100 others you get linked from rumour generators.

Great player and I'd take him with open arms but there's nothing credible here.

😆

I know, I know...but it's because I think there's a chance he could be sold and I think we'll be at the front if the queue if he is. I couldn't bring myself to Houseboat it! 🙂

Don't worry RockyFive, G89 is responsible for most of the links on this page, clearly not all of them can be credible 🙂

I think he has grown up in that respect by a bit, to his credit.

Not the droid we are looking for

would take him

reus is the better german engineered target this summer

Where do we play this guy? What new tangible benefits does he bring?

Technical superiority. Scores more goals than any wide players we have bar Sanchez. Obvious improvement.

13 goals in 37 isn't even Theo territory. Would much rather Marco Reus who scores much more and with greater variety.

Götze has scored 16, 15 and 15 in the last three seasons. That's more goals than Walcott - even accounting for the time Theo spent injured - and he plays in a league that is 4 games shorter each season. He's a good goalscorer, but above all he's a bloody outstanding footballer. We don't have too many of them lying around. If Bayern are dumb enough to sell him because he hasn't hit the right tune for them yet then we need to get in on it.

Gotze is an incredibly gifted footballer. He added the most to Dortmund's technical superiority over other teams and when he left they gave up that advantage a lot. If he is there to be had we should just get him so that Chelsea, United and City can't. He is unlike Cazorla in the wide areas, he loves to get into the box.

great player, but him and ozil don't gel much from what i've seen for the national team. also seems to have attitude problems, but those could be solved by the more low key environment of our club. i'd be very scared if united or city got him, so if he's available i'd snap him up and play him on the left

Absolutely, I find the lack of technical consistency in our squad incredibly frustrating and Götze would go a long way to remedying that. Not to mention he has plenty of end product
