Yep, it's not about the transfer fees, it's about the wages. Who wants to be stuck with a middle of the road player who'll cost £36 million in wages during his contracted period in addition to whatever transfer fee they have to pay? That's the reality that anyone who wants to take on Walcott is looking at. He's a £70 million investment.
I'd happily take £10 million for Walcott if someone offered right now in January. I reckon a year or two from now he's not even going to be worth that much. Without pace he's just a rubbish footballer who has no business playing in Premier League. Whatever we'll lose on the transfer fee we'll gain by not having to pay his £140K per week wages for two more years.
