The club are just as much to blame, a lot of these leaks are coming from them. They know he will leave so want the fans to turn against him. They did the same with Suarez as well, all they need to do is convince their delusional fan base so they can get rid. The owners are known for it but the player and his agent are just playing into their hands.
Remember when players left us, the media talked about lack of ambition at our club and how they were moving onto better things. They seem to be taking a lot of offence over this though, leaping out to Liverpool's defence even though they're in an even worse state than we were. Bottom line is last time they won a title was 5 years before Sterling was even born and they look no closer to it now. Players aren't going to waste their careers there, even their legend Gerrard was desperate to leave but couldn't get out. They need to realise their status now, Liverpool were one of the super powers of world football but they simply are not any more. Their fans and the ex players in the media are still living in the past though.
