some talk about the GB team wanting bale to be in the team. wales obviously not willing to let him join. what do you think the odds are that bale will end up playing for the GB team? will ramsey start as well, or would it be too soon for him, with gerrard and lampard still around in 2012?

who else do you think could make it on a true GB team? here's what i think could happen, although i think the team might be better off with parker sitting back and gerrard going to the bench. no way a GB manager sits both gerrard and lampard, though.

--------------hart
richards-ferdinand-terry-cole
-------ramsey-wilshere
walcott---gerrard---bale
------------rooney

foster, cahill, g johnson, gibbs, milner, lampard, defoe

other possibilities: jagielka, lescott, adam, fletcher, cleverley, j henderson, parker, a johnson, lennon, a young, carroll, c cole

Kami, your team is probably a little too old. The team should be under 23 except for 3 overage player.

it would be great for Wales to release Ramsey and Bale. this is the only chance they will to make an impact at a major international tournament

i'm struggling to name too many good british youngsters, but excluding the 3 veterans, the team would probably be built around
hart, rodwell, wilshere, ramsey, gibbs, bale, welbeck, smalling, carroll (not sure what the cut-off birthdate is).
older guys will NOT come from United as Ferguson will not tolerate that nonsense, so I doubt we see Rooney.

As it's U23 I'd say Josh McEachran would be a good bet to join that pool. He'll by 19 by then.

Can't see Wilshere and Hart playing in the olympics (the assumption being that England will qualify for the euros).

haha i totally forgot the age requirement for olympics. nevermind that whole part of my post then.

Still, this is an interesting exercise. I named all the good players I could think of. How would England / Britain fill out the rest of the team?
