IIRC the last time we played a midfield of Cazorla-Coq-Ramsey was our 2-0 won at City.

cazorla doesnt have the stamina to play anywhere in midield, even at the 10 imo. ozil covers a huge amount of territory in games and is always on the move. ozil was bad yesterday, but overall he's been good this season. we looked utterly inept when he didnt play at newcastle; alexis, cazorla, ramsey, none of them could find a red shirt in that game. despite winning 1-0 the attacking 'display' at newcastle was far worse than against olympiacos, and that was down to having no ozil.

Seriously, only place where Cazorla can do a job now is on the bench. The Arteta-Ramsey-Ozil midfield worked fine. We just needed a better Arteta and an injection of quality in at least one of the positions up front. Instead Wenger decided to replace Arteta with a three foot five stone midget and Ramsey with Coquelin.

He provides moments of brilliance during a game like the layoff to Bellerin against Leicester but the rest of the time he's hindering the team with his lack of effort, poor hold up play and inability to score goals.

Cazorla has played in his position before and been completely useless, which is why we are shoe horning him into midfield. The only place Cazorla needs to be is on the bench. Sick of him being in the team, apart from some performances last season the guy never performs as CM. No coincidence his better performances come away from home, at home he can't dictate or control a game. Yesterday was missing for most of the game.

As for Ozil, he needs to sort his fucking act out as well.

looking back at the string of inane decisions that led to our current midfield is just makes me legit stare into the distance and shake my head

How often has he actually been our best player? He hasn't been close to out POTS in either of his seasons here.

Explain exactly how he is our best player? Having >90% passing stats and playing tidy through balls isn't exactly putting on that in terms of goals and assists, or is a number 10 supposed to be something else now?

He was one of our best players against Leicester. He's also still our most prolific chance creator, with most spurned key passes.

That said, he's often been below par this season. Really does need to sort his shit out.

Cazorla has created as many chances from deeper and has the assists as well this season so you an debunk that ozil thw architect myth.

Ozil flatters to deceive. He is absolutely brilliant in moments here and there, but his overall impact on matches is not nearly enough to warrant that "free 10 role" in this team. Especially since we have huge issues both in central midfield, right wing and up front. If we had a solid midfield duo, who could both defend and pass the ball, Ozil would be the perfect choice in the 10 role, but we don't have that. We don't have a single midfielder who can both defend and attack. That means it'll probably be a lot easier to build a three man midfield, with one defensive midfielder and two more free-roaming midfielders next to him. We already have Coquelin, Ramsey and Wilshere who can do a job in that type of set up.

dont know why ozil hasnt been tried on the right more. he's always said he likes to play there if 10 isnt an option. shift ramsey back to the middle and play a flatter 3 of coq, ram, jack/cazorla

Same as di maria he's won so much that if you put him in a team that's not going to win trophys he'll just look flakey. He's nothing to fight for here unless were in a title challenge. Arshavin realised we weren't going to complete for cl or pl so he just hung his boots up.
Ozil is a bit younger he'll push for a move soon. His agent was talking up the Turkish links, he's not going out like that but the talking up a transfer is calculated.

His last season at Real Madrid was spent on the wing and he has been played there for a while in the national team. Seems a pattern is emerging.

He improves everyone around him and I believe he has the most positive overall impact on our football out of all our players when he is on the pitch. I can understand why people disagree with that, but for me that's obvious.
