I do not agree with the idea that he has not reached the heights as a player at RM.
If anything, coming to a new league and adapting to a new system exposed his limitations as a player. The media and pundits' witch hunt of Arsenal players hadn't helped either. I don't even need to reiterate the difference between the criticisms levelled at him compared to players like di Maria.
I'm just glad that he took up the challenge and did not hide despite all that. He is now indispensable to the way we play and the recognition will come in due time when we win more titles. He won't be what Messi and Ronaldo is to their respective teams, but he would be appreciated in the same way the likes of Xavi, Ribery, Iniesta etc. who are specialist players going by how it's defined. They are just indispensable to the way their respective teams play and when we have a title winning team it's not hard to look past him.
Funnily enough, I think he can go one gear higher by adding goals to his game.
