Got a feeling Ozil is going to have a 1997/1998 Bergkamp season next year.
I would not be surprised if he wins POTY in 2016.
He pissed me off greatly for nearly a 18 months but I respect how he has gone about things since the turn of the year. Felt he did not have the hunger to succeed in England but he proved me wrong. That injury v Chelsea was the best thing to happen to him.
Think that's difficult because POTY award is hugely dependent on numbers you generate as an attacking player. Mesut doesn't have either the finish or the runs to become a big goal-scorer and you probably have to play whole year like Fabregas' first half of last season to be even in the reckoning for POTY. Also, Fabregas thrived in a counter-attacking unit with pacy attackers. We have Sanchez and Theo, but, I don't think we'll counter-attack as much as Chelsea do for him to generate those numbers even in a good season.
However, I agree with the general sentiment that he seems to be determined to make his time in England count and this has brought in an improvement in his performance levels. I can't see him make a huge jump up without adding something significant (like goal-scoring) to his game.
