Good win in the end, started the game so brightly and really should have been 3-0 up within 30mins. A bit of a less controlled period after that but didn't look like Villa would score, once we got the 2nd goal you could see Villa had thrown the towel in. Good to score 5 goals as well, with how tight the top 4 is getting better to increase our GD in case it comes to that!

Welbeck could score a hattrick every week and some of you guys would still hate on him
Fact is he has good potential. Can play centrally or on the left. Offers different attributes to our other options and is homegrown and very willing to develop. He's a good guy to have around
Exactly, he can play all across the front line and gives us good depth to the squad. With him being 24 hopefully he will push on but even if he doesn't still a good option to have in the squad. These days it is a squad game and we've been lacking on that front for years. If we hadn't signed him for a good couple of months we would not have had a recognized striker, simply had to sign someone. You pay a premium for English players, I reckon in a couple of years we could sell him off and recoup most of the money if required.

On the Giroud goal, if he did miscontrol it a bit then its all the better IMO. You wont see someone who's not a natural goal scorer recover from a slight mistake like that in such a brilliant way.
If he did miscontrol it? Was quite obvious he almost messed it up but he recovered the situation well in the end.
I think since his return he has looked a lot more nimble on his feet and a lot more composed. Looked like he was playing with lead in his boots last season, having extra competition but also being rested has made a difference. Part of the problem last season was we had nobody else to turn to so he had to play most games.
