Winning the CL

I can't stop thinking about us winning the CL this year.

I've got a sneaky feeling we can do it.

If we reach the final I am definitely going to Berlin.

If we win I would not return to London for a month.

I will be sipping Wilshere's champagne in the club and happily spend one grand on one night!

I love the optimism. The reality, though, is that we will get to the Qtrs and not much further.. (IMO of course)

I don't think we have the required quality/experience in our spine to do so, not just in defence or midfield but just as importantly in goal scoring.
Further to this following AW's comments that the Citeh performance does not represent a change in style/ideology I have less faith. He said the same post signing Ozil & has stayed true to HIS philosophy 7 ideology as we've found to our continued cost to date.

It's what people have been doing all season against them in Europe. They only conceded a single goal in the group stages. And they have this absolute nuisance in Ferreira-Carrasco who's putting the fear of god into the opposition with his pace. I know people were cheering when we drew them, but we're poorly set up to counter their two main strengths.

They only scored 4 as well though and we're not exactly talking about a group with giants in it. If anything, I'd say our strengths counter theirs perfectly.

Do we have what it takes to defend at a consistent heroic level, and convert the one or two chances that we'll get against the best teams left?

I wouldn't say that I'm confident that we have what it takes to do that consistently, but we have definitely seen that we can put it together in one-off Cup encounters.

Get past Monaco and who knows?

I don't thing we would have to, we're much better than that Chelsea team. The biggest issue isn't our limitations, it's that we're at our worst far more frequently than we're at our best.

On paper we may be better than that Chelsea team but in reality we haven't yet shown in the CL that we're capable of playing smart enough to win the big ties.
