We did all read the headlines like "Mikel Arteta kept dossier of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's misdemeanours at Arsenal" that popped up everywhere, didn't we?

As far as accounts of how Arteta viewed the situation in the lead-up to Aubameyang being dropped and iced out are concerned, how does the claim "the player has been widely and highly praised by the manager week in week out before he took the wrong plane back" stack up against the dossier story?

I should probably read the whole interview but Ive never shaken off the feeling its a political environment with that management and leadership. Since 2020, I've separated my opinion of Arteta into two: What it would be like to work under this type of boss (negative) and what I'm getting out of this appointment as an Arsenal fan, spectator (probably net positive, never wanted him sacked to date).

Even if Leno felt he was better suited, he was disrespectful to his contract and his commitment to Arsenal. Public doesn't really know about personal relationships (e.g. GK coach), internal issues etc so have to take things on face value.

I'm getting real tired of the BS players like Guendouzi, Martinez, Leno and Tavares have spewed in recent times.

A few articles are saying its about Matt Turner being signed to try to appeal to the American market.

I read it as a complaint that Ramsdale was always picked ahead of him, which is fair from his POV, certainly in the second half of last season when Ramsdale got injured Leno was in better form. There are other reasons to stick with Ramsdale (although I think we rushed it) but for Leno it definitely made sense to get out.

Ramsdale has been in bad form, but lets be real, Leno always had a blunder in him. His passing is also bad...not gonna miss him. The man turned down the new contract we offered beacuse he was thinking about the CL....he got a transfer to Fulham, who did not want to spend more then 3 mil on him. He can talk all he wants...

All I'm saying is that when Ramsdale went out of the team he was in bad form, Leno performed well and Ramsdale still came back in straight away. I think there are understandable reasons for that from Artetas perspective but I also see why it would make Leno think there is no point staying and fighting for his place.

You can definitely understand Leno's perspective but if he's being real he'll know full well why Ramsdale was ahead and it's got everything to do with quality and performence. The difference when it comes to their ability on the ball is night and day and that's a huge factor in the way we play.

I would struggle to pick Leno ahead of Ramsdale. The delta in attacking performance is so big that it doesn’t make up for any goalkeeping benefits Leno has. The problem with Leno is you compromise your playing principles. So you don’t generate as much progression. And then you’re stuck defending anyway with a player who can’t play with the ball at his feet.

The trade off just isn’t worth it day-to-day. Playing Leno more is right there with the push to play Pépé more for me. Not worth it.

I'd imagine he was told that he could win his place back, etc And then when a half fit Ramsdale was back in ahead of him after he'd played well he realised he was genuinely second choice.

Leno is a very good keeper, he's much better than Fulham, but once we signed Ramsdale it was obvious who was going to be first choice and even if Arteta had played Leno for a few more games at that stage I still think we'd all have wanted Ramsdale as number 1 again going into this season. He's a talented keeper with a much higher ceiling than Leno and we need to keep playing him and back him if we want him to keep developing. (Even though I do think Ramsdale was rushed back for no good reason).

I feel like they are the opposite. The push for Leno is a very dependable 6-7 out of 10 keeper almost every game. Ramsdale swings between 5 and 9. Pepe was far more like Ramsdale in that regard. Arteta just preferred a consistent 3 from Willian.

Quite possibly one of the dumbest things put out, that makes no sense. Is that a deep fake? Quite ballsy given half the cast just got raided and dawned two different jerseys in the last year. I'd be more hurt if we weren't doing so well. Meanwhile you had Laca savouring our victory on social.
