TBH, i never had much time for Luiz. I thought he was error prone, and with the system and the players we had, he was the wrong player at the wrong time.

He was always a player who lacked a good understanding of the game but he got away with it when he was young cos he was quick. That was gone before he arrived here. Was generally very poor for us. His passing was overrated too. As soon as Arteta replaced him with White we went up a level.

Of the signings we've made from Chelsea he managed to lower the bar even further than thought possible. A player you dream of seeing in the opposition defence. Don't think I've ever disliked an Arsenal player more.

Qwiss yep. Ball-playing centre back my arse.

He couldn't build play whatsoever with short/medium passing between the lines. The occasional successful Hollywood long ball came off, but Mustafi had a handful of successes there too.

JazzG big Dave stopped to let me cross the road outside the Stadium that afternoon, gave him a courtesy thank you wave before I did a double take and realised who it was. He was laughing his head off and waving at us. I didn't even look to see who was in the car with him.

Qwiss I just think it is very disappointing he shaved his tash and pony tail off, just doesn't look right to me.

JazzG he looks like cartoon character now.

The state of things when someone working for Arsenal recognises Tom Hiddlestone over David Seaman...

Simon Jordan is insufferable but this interview with Wilshere was decent apart from Simon constantly attempting to bait Wilshere into shitting on Wenger/Arteta.

          Coombs

If we had to do it all over again, i.e. manage the club through the transition, would you want Wenger to guide the club through it, or someone else?

daredevil I would've convinced Wenger to join the suits sometime post-2008. I still believe he was important in keeping Jabba below 30%.

The main issue isn’t Wenger. It’s Dein and the standoff he caused for a decade between Jabba and Stan. As soon as Stan had full control, there was an energy and seriousness around the club that we hadn’t seen since before the board started selling their shares.

I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but imagine how good he will be in modern era where we have stats for pre-assists. Some of those dribbles is just stupidly good and his slide rule passes is probably one of the best we have along with Pires. The amount of poor finishing by others in this vid though (including Paris.. 🙁 )... he was a big reason why we were so good in the UCL those days, able to keep possession and quick in transition.

Imagine Odegaard on the end of his cutbacks...

Claudius an energy and seriousness that resulted in Wenger being turfed.

Clrnc Very unique player. Not seen anyone stylistically quite like him before or since. You know of anyone Clrnc?

Claudius As soon as Stan had full control, there was an energy and seriousness around the club that we hadn’t seen since before the board started selling their shares.

Thats re-writing history. As soon as Arteta arrived there was an energy and seriousness. Before that we had full control Stan allowing Raul to act shady and Mislintat signing his busted old mates. We had Unai looking for players and getting ones he never wanted. If we hadn't signed Arteta and he hadn't power pointed them into being serious I doubt it would have happened at all.

                    Qwiss

Arteta brought the seriousness, but the purse strings seemed like they were starting to be loosened prior to that. The clown show was all Gazidis' work.

Lukazan Yeah the way he dribbles and pass, really can't think of anyone. Sometimes it looks like he's going to lose the ball and then he skipped past the defender like he's a fool.

goon I think once the Kroenke's took full control they were willing to put in the money. I think initially when Raul was running things I think they were got stung a bit so had to take a step back.

Like you say when Arteta came in, him along with Edu bought some proper focus and strategy into our transfers.

What a baller. Can you imaging him actually staying back then. Overmars leaving was fine, he was a permacrock and Pires was better for us anyways but Petit was just elite. Luckily we ended up getting Gilberto in the end after the world cup but Petit-Viera could have been so much better.

JazzG I think once the Kroenke's took full control they were willing to put in the money.

It was both the having full control, and the fact that the club was sliding badly at that moment … certainly the investment has been about protecting their asset.

The big KSE incentive for keeping us around CL territory is the exit to some kind of entrenched "super league" and the step up in stock value from that … if we drop to the mid table for five years that falls into question.

I'm a simple man, post anything about Thierry, don't even care what it is, and I will automatically like it faster than he moved when he outpaced Hyppia and Carragher back in the day.

That one is beyond my narrow understanding of the world.

Wojciech Szczęsny in Foot Truck: - Where did I disappear before the penalty shootout against Wales? Official or unofficial version? I went to analyze the penalties in peace. And "in peace" means with some smoke"

                          What a fucking legend
