I think the work permit is pretty much sorted, no way Wenger would have gone public and now them unless it is merely down to formalities now. Probably just a case of getting him over, medical and signing the contract now.

Seems I'm the only one not in euphoria over this. Perhaps I've seen too little, perhaps I worry too much.
With Kos, though his time here didn't start with a bang, I fell in love immediately. Have a feeling it might take a while for this one.

Anyway, clearly the need for a CB was urgent. Hope this works out.

He's better off playing regular football as he's going to get lesser minutes now with 3 long term injured casualties fit (Giroud, Walcott and Ozil)

He's obviously gone in the summer. Never really got a proper shot here even though he came off a good campaign at Olymp and a pretty decent WC performance. Not really sure he could get "lesser minutes" than he did even when those players were out.. heh

gut feeling is that wenger doesn't think he has the quality. A match-winner on his day perhaps but not the world class talent Wenger 's after. (Don't ask about Sanogo...). But things can change quite quickly e.g. Coquelin, and he hasn't caused any hassle so good luck to him.

The thing is he needs development and Wenger has enough projects up-top to not have time for this such as-

Developing Welbeck
Developing The Ox
Fitting Ozil into the system
Developing Jack also if he's intended to be played in one of the 3 attacking roles behind the striker

How many projects can we have in our team while hoping to compete for trophies?

to be fair, i think we need paulista more than we need Joel, so im not that fussed. I am just afraid this is all we will be doing in the window (pretty safe bet)

My gut feeling is that Campbell doesn't have the right mentality. I remember him playing against Southampton in the CC and he hid all game, if he shows the same attitude in the training then I can see why Wenger's got no time for him.

Sanogo, limited though he is, does not go hiding.

That is a given, not a project of Wenger.

You're not the only one. From what little I've seen and what the Villareal fans are saying, he seems fairly average. I honestly thought we were done filling up the squad with average to good players...

I don't think we really know enough about him to get excited or be pissed off. His price tag indicates he's a more serious signing than guys like Squillaci and Silvestre. We don't pay over £10m for players Wenger doesn't rate.

Most Villarreal fans actually seem to think that he's got potential but prone to errors now and again. I think he'll either be really good or utter shite.
