I think the rumours about Marchisio earlier this season were interesting. He's a really clever guy. Been bossing it up as a Pirlo replacement at times for both Juve and Italy. He could probably do what Arteta does for us, but with better knees and a 5 year younger body that doesn't need as much rest.

we're not spending more than 20m in jan. ive seen a few sources saying thats the upper limit of this seasons budget, so these dreams of schneiderlin and hummels will have to wait. we'll get 1 defender at max, perhaps that cb/dm utility that was being touted in the summer

The absolute worst thing to happen this window IMO is if we sign any player who can merely 'do a job' for us on permanent deals. Unless we sign top quality players I'd rather sign no one. We need to get RID of players who bloat the squad and not add to that bunch.

Agree. Even though a 10m cb and a 10m dm maybe would be the best alternative for this season, I'd prefer either a 20m cb or dm.
