Why don't Barca/Bayern, with all their world class attackers, take the same approach with the very best defenders? Boateng, Dante and Mathieu at clubs like those whilst Thiago Silva, Diego Godin and even Koscielny play for much weaker clubs.

Juve are not really different to Madrid, Barca and Bayern, in my eyes. They're all rampant cheats in a million different ways - that's why they're at the very top of the game and always have been.

Juve's cheating was of the most fundamental type, the kind that really wrecks a sport.
Barca, Real, they may "cheat" FFP or in the market for top players, but to my knowledge they've never stooped as low as fixing matches

because they want to spend the money where games are won. you can get by with competent defenders. you can't get by with a competent attack. and in barca's case they require their defenders to have specific on the ball skills.

barca and real don't cheat anymore than man united does (or even us), which is they don't. and if we don't have similar money it's because we cheat ourselves commercially.

Was also noticeable to see that Barcelona struggled to control the game once Messi moved up front. Without Xavi or Messi in there, they can't suffocate bigger teams into submission like they used to.

Personally, I wouldn't put anything past the crooks that run those clubs. As a recent example, do you Remember Dr Fuentes a year or two back? They're always cheating one way or another, in my opinion. Anything and everything to stay at the top and ahead of their rivals.

I'm sure performance enhancing drugs factor in some where as well, but if that's the case, it's not just those four teams in Europe that use them either.

I think match fixing is something that's far more serious. It wasn't just Juventus either, although they led to sleaze, Napoli and Milan were right up there.

Of course, this is all insignificant when compared to the grand daddy of corruption, human rights violation and all around filth which is FIFA itself.

The calciopoli was bad, but they were punished accordingly for it. I can't stand Juventus either as a club, but I'm in Ricky's camp - it's really difficult to find any moral high ground whetsoever when it comes to these top clubs. That the Spanish giants have used doping extensively is pretty much the worst kept secret in football for instance. It would be a new Lance Armstrong situation waiting to blow up if people really gave a crap, but they don't. I think the entire sport is ruined pretty much beyond repair already in terms of integrity.

I just happen to think match fixing is the absolute worst form of cheating.
I know big money has corrupted and sullied so many aspects of the sport, but if an outcome of a game is 100% guaranteed prior to kick-off because people directly involved have agreed beforehand that it should be so then that's the end of the line for football.

Whoever goes through will lose to Messi-Suarez-Neymar. Though it would be interesting to see Buffon, Pogba, Tevez and Pirlo in the final.

It's a fair point, but there are a lot of ways to practically guarantee a certain outcome on the pitch. I agree that what makes football so compelling as a sport is the unpredictability of the result. Ironically, a good example of that might be Juventus beating out Real Madrid tonight. No one expects that to happen.

Right now I'm feeling that Madrid will get knocked out.
