It was in regard to if he only was a poacher. I'd say so, despite those assists.
Re. your point, it depends, I'd say. Getting simple assists shows also the quality of Real, and thier counter attacking style.
Tbh, it's maybe just my slowly growing hatred for assists, and its meaning affecting my view. People assume a player with many assists is automatically some sort of playmaking God... It couldn't be further from the truth. They could come from set pieces mainly, or crossing, cutbacks, etc.
This is why Mata was found out at United, and that joker Eriksen will be if a big club pays stupid money for such an average player. The other day I read that De Bryune has been up there with Messi as one of the best playmakers in the world this season, and I couldn't believe my eyes reading it... He has been class but, saying De Bryune is up there with Messi is simply down to looking at those 15 assists, and assuming; "wow, what a playmaker". If, anything he's more of a final ball/crosding specialist and nothing what I would call a playmaker.
