Bit of both I think. He's not ideal out there but they make it work because he's a good player. He made Ligue 1 team of the season last year unless I'm mistaken.

I think they should only play one game per tie in the playoffs. Yeah home field advantage will come in to play but this current system makes for a lot of drab first games, and meaningless second ones where the outcome is a given.

Any idiot can mark his man, that's not why you pay £50m for a player. You pay that sort of money for the ability to spot opportunities that others can't, like repositioning magic spray.
