It's not really getting around FFP though is it, it's squeezing as much wiggle room as possible. In the end of the day, Monaco no longer have Falcao and Chelsea no longer have Torres and van Ginkel available to them and were forced to sell Mata, Lukaku, Luiz, De Bruyne. City were also forced to get rid of Negredo with no replacement coming in.

yeah there is nothing disgraceful about what chelsea is doing. they're doing whatever it takes to win. the disgrace is in not doing whatever it takes to win.

Assuming the Welbeck deal goes through I think we did better this summer than last actually.
The only reservation that I have is over the selling of Vermaelen without first having signed a replacement.
As regards the DM, we have plenty midfielders, just depends on whether or not Wenger can hit on the right balance and mix.

The order of affairs has a bit to do with it. I reckon if we'd wrapped Welbeck up two months ago with Debuchy and Chambers, and signed Sanchez for £32m today, everyone would be fapping themselves for joy. Or failing that the mood would be more positive anyway.

Welbeck is pretty underwhelming but at least he gives us the option of playing along last season's lines if Sanchez doesn't work out centrally.

I think he does, I just think he's changed his view on what type of player and characteristics we need there.

I get the impression he wants a physical presence who can be a link man who brings our technical attackers into play higher up the pitch

Hence, chamakh, giroud, Sanogo and Welbeck
