I looked it up. They have to be affiliated with the English FA or Welsh FA for at least 3 years before their 21st birthday. Coquelin played in England 08-09, 09-10 and 11-12. So he should be home-grown. Ryo was in England for the last 3 seasons and there were rumours of AW being reluctant to loan Ryo back to the Dutch league because they wanted him to qualify for the home-grown rule, sending him to the likes of Bolton and Wigan instead.

29 more goals than Sanogo, and so if it keeps him from starting I can live with it. Got that pace that everyone reckons we need for Ozil.

Ultimately it's more penny pinching and ineptness from the club though as we're not improving the team in any serious regards.

I would take Welbeck, at this stage of the transfer window.

While he could do with improving his finishing, he has a lot of attributes which could allow him to thrive here- good link-up play/ technique, pace, work rate etc.

He has also had limited game time upfront for United and actually did quite well over Christmas when Van Persie was injured, where he got 5 goals in 6 games.

What is strange is that we have been told we don't need anyone until the last moment when we suddenly are running around to pay 16 mil for a guy who might have potential but is far from being a ready made striker capable of taking the strain. Why not gi a bit higher earlier on and try and get an established name. At least in terms of previous gial scoring record. Feels very panicked, especially as we got do with visiting DM and cb.

Good signing. He'll come straight into the team, has the potential to be far better than Giroud and should improve the players around him.
