Chambers and Kosceilny shows that you don't need to be pure bulked to be imposing. Kos in particular has dominated players who are far bigger than him in terms of pure size.

Koscielny is pretty ripped when he's in shape to be fair. He carries a big frame. Only striker I've seen who has really dominated him in the last few years was Ibrahimovic.

Think a lot of it comes down to being able to get yourself inbetween the striker and the ball. When you're chasing down a striker if you have pace and nous to just close down the running path you're good.

What impressed me was his refusal to be bullied by an incredible hulk-type striker and even clattered the man in the first half when Ba was starting to think he was getting the better of the challenges.

Have to admit, it was mighty decent of Ferguson to stock up on the likes of Smalling and Jones and leave us Chambers.

The Guy is over 6'2 and we seem to have truly done a number on southampton as he would have been a starting Cb having a breakout year this season where everyone would be willing to stump £30m for him. I'm most impressed by his technique, he has the ability to play with pure composure and control that is rare for a CB, let alone a 19 year old.

Its also impressive that he has been the go to defender off the ball and has been the most "active" of the pairing with Koscielny. That said he made some errors today and got caught out twice, but that is to be expected.

He plays like he was here since long! I just dont want to get too excited. I was excited with Verm's first year and that did not turn up well.

He didn't appear to be freaked out or badly affected by his mistakes, I think it helped that Ba missed that chance he was gifted 🙂
Thankful for that because it would have been a bit too cruel a lesson.

his passing was actually more progressive than any of our midfielders. could be anything, this guy.

I think the reason he's looked more "active" than kos is because strikers try to challenge him more because he's the more inexperienced of the pair. Managers are probably instructing their players to go down his side more. Not that its phased chambers a bit.
