Well like I mention below Wenger has said this himself. You can sit here and cry about Cesc but if they hadn't signed him they could have gone for someone else. He might not have been as good but they still would have done the right business in that role.

Wenger is on record as saying he has gone where he wanted to go. He has also said he believes the deal to Chelsea was done in early 2014. John Cross is just quoting Wenger, not giving his opinion.
