I've actually been thinking that for most of the season. Moyes was a better manager than van Gaal for them. He had an idea about how he wanted to play but needed new players. van Gaal doesn't even know what his best eleven is after spending nearly 200 million.

Moyes or Van Gaal has been much of a muchness, but LVG's failures show the problem isn't just finding a manager, it's going to go deeper than that.
