One of the areas provoking debate within Real Madrid is the contract renewal of German international, Sami Khedira. He will be out of contract in June 2015. Last year with the player out with a long term cruciate ligament injury, Madrid, as a show of confidence offered him a new deal as a sign of their confidence in the midfielder.

At the time, the players agent never offered the club a positive answer and the matter were left unresolved. Last week, Khedira mentioned that he’s advised his agent to begin to negotiate a contract extension but according to radio station, Cadena Ser it may prove to be Madrid as the disinterested party this time.

The reasons for Madrrid’s reluctance to enter into negotiations, according to the broadcaster are the players refusal to pursue a renewal last year combined with the players own loss of importance in the Real Madrid dressing room. Khedira was a regular in the Real Madrid starting eleven under José Mourinho but has seen how the likes of Kroos, Modric, James and Isco have become firm fixtures in Carlo Ancoletti’s midfield.

With Modric expected to be out of action for up to four months the German player will get another chance to prove his worth at the club. However, SER Radio don’t feel that this will influence the decision at the club who have reportedly a deal in place with another leading European club.

Don't think they will sell him in January when Modric is injured for 3-4 months. And when he's on a free in the summer, I don't think he will choose us.

I could definitely see Matic and Cesc at the base with Khedira replacing Oscar ahead of them.

If anything, it would be Cesc at the top. However, Moron already has Ramires and Mikel to play along with Matic, and Oscar and Willian to play in that AM role. Honestly, I doubt Moron will be interested. Especially so when there are doubts over Khedira's ability to stay fit and be available for selection.

Ramires rarely plays a holding role for Chelsea though. He's either played in central midfield (ahead of the 2 DMCs) or on the right wing for defensive cover. Mikel is their sub for closing out games, he's slots in beside Matic with Oscar or Cesc ahead of them.

imo, Mourinho's ideal midfield is basically someone really fucking big who sits (Matic/Mikel), a creative player who stays deep (Fabregas), and someone ahead of them who runs a lot (Oscar/Khedira/Ramires). Oscar would offer guile, khedira would offer power.

Plenty of reasons for the transfer to happen, and they also have an excellent relationship with each other.

Everybody predicted Cesc would play in the number 10 role for Mourinho because he is conservative but he hardly had any meaningful minutes there so far for Chelsea.

Cesc playing deeper is much better anyways. He and Matic seemed to have created quite the tandem, and it enables someone higher up to press (which Cesc can't do well).
