Khedira has been pretty woeful every time I have seen him this season. Today was no exception.
I watched the game today and he was shockingly bad. Outplayed by 3rd division-level players. Also, i cannot see why Germany persist with CBs in the FB positions. If Tim Cahill had played, Australia would have scored at least 5.
Good luck at Schalke, Sami!
That's a bit harsh on the Aussies there Tone. Several of them would be Championship level for sure! One or two would hold their own in the Premier League as well.
Jedinak is a good player. He is near the top in the PL in successful tackles and interceptions every season.
Sorry, i should have said 3rd tier, which is Football League 1 in England. The standard of play by the Germans was really poor and if the Aussies were Championship level, they would have won handsomely.
It's ok Tone - we knew what you meant by third tier / League 1. While we don't have a Kewell level player at the moment we still have some decent players.

Iniesta in his pomp as an attacking midfielder used to produce stats like 3 assists and as many goals. Theo on the other hand got around 21 goals and nearly as many assists. Stats are a nonsensical way to compare players.

It's gone exactly 366 days since he last assisted or scored now. Still doesn't play badly, although not very well either.
Even in his pomp I think we was a bit of a fraud to be honest. Very good player who was as the right place at the right time for both himself and Barca, but if he played anywhere else I don't think he'd have ever gotten close to the sort of recognition he got.
Iniesta and Xavi's job wasn't to score or assist goals though. When they did it was a bonus.
Seriously? Iniesta is top top class.

Thats probably true but I think that right place, right time thing applies to a lot of top players.

There was once a time where every Arsenal fan and his dog thought Cesc was better. 😆

Being in the right place at the right time, goes for every single success story in the history of mankind. You wouldn't be a top player if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or would you? Food for thought.
Anybody watching the England game? Welbeck just did a nice nutmeg just now!
Iniesta and Xavi used to benefit from having a player scoring 50-60 a season and a frontline which could score 80-100. We don't have that luxury. Of course nobody expects Jack to outscore Sterling but assuming we fit in Ozil, Coq/New DM and Wilshere in the first 11 then the three other players would have to score a lot. Barca had that.
Welbeck usually makes an impact for England. Set up a good chance for rooney earlier
Utterly convinced Cahill is the love child of Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch.
Welbz with another goal, albeit a scrappy one
I actually think England are the best national side in Europe at the mo
