anything to learn from what our boys did?

Not play Cazorla in our first 11? now?
He's the best available player we have with Sanchez.
As things stand he should start, at CM or 10, every single game.
we could do with a purple patch from him, TBH. With Sanchez, Welbeck, Theo returning and Ox,
If Santi's at his best, we could do OK in the circumstances. Easy games help too.

Del Bosque played him at RB when he brought him on this evening.
He's not suited to the position to say the least.

First half was very poor in general. Ox played the second half and injected some urgency. Created Welbeck's goal. Was doing well until Townsend came on and tried his one man show routine.

Welbeck was ok but scuffed a couple of chances.

Gibbs had a decent game. Mostly played it safe as usual and probably had a 50/50 success rate whenever he did try to take on one of their fullbacks. Remember a couple of nice crosses.

Chambers supported well down the right but no real end product on crosses or clever passes. Defenders didn't have anything to do.

Wilshere was efficient in the second half. Didn't bother running with the ball much but just got his head up and was picking out some fantastic passes (admittedly San Marino's 10 men defence obviously had no sense of positioning). Although I joked about him getting the MOTM, he probably was the best player on the pitch even though he didn't seem to try very hard. Maybe a lesson in there, maybe not.

What an absolute joy it was to see 5 Arsenal players playing for England this morning. Didn't think that was something I'd ever get to see. Walcott to come back too and I'd imagine he'd start when 100%. I can remember 4 when Seaman, Adams, Keown and Dixon played I think a friendly against France around 2000.

Rooney was always going to be captain someday and I always thought I'd find it very difficult to support a team captained by that scum but it's just happened to coincide with a time when Arsenal have a lot of players in and around the side.

Really happy for Gibbs to get 90 minutes for England too. He deserved that chance having been called up several times over the last 2 or 3 years and then always getting injured and having to withdraw. Should be ahead of Shaw and I don't particularly rate Baines aside from set pieces either.

Apparently that was the first time for 78 years that 5 Arsenal players have been on the pitch at the same time for England. 1936 against Austria was the last time and in fact there were 6 Arsenal players that day including the likes of Bastin and Hapgood. The days of the 2-3-5 formation!

After years of maligning from the mainstream media at Arsenal for not blooding English youngsters it could argued now that half the first team for England would consist Arsenal lads - Gibbs, Chambers, Wilshere, Theo (when fit), Chamberlain and Wellbeck.....yet we hardly hear anything about it in the media, not a peep.
