I went and watched Western Sydney Wanderers win their semi final against FC Seoul last night. Was great fun as usual - best atmosphere in Australia. The Wanderers play a bit like Chelsea used to - had not much ball last night but defended very well and scored two good goals. Seoul never really looked like scoring. Tony Popovic is proving to be a very astute manager. The club is only two years old and we have been Premiers once, runners up once and made the grand final both years, and are now in the Asian Champions League Final. Plus we've built a fantastic club culture in two years through great communication with the fans, which started over a year before the club kicked a ball in anger.
The Wanderers will play Al Hilal in a two legged home and away final at the end of October. One game in Sydney, one in Riyadh. That's got to be one of the longest trips for a competition anywhere.
