Not doubting his commitment here but I think Wilshere is playing within himself. His determination to stay fit this season is far greater than any other goal he can set right now.

He isn't making himself available and it is very uncharacteristic of him. As Patters said, decent on the ball but put in a beautiful cross to Rooney who should have finished it.

Welbeck is working hard. I think not all players are as ease with the system either. Why wasn't this tried in the friendly last week if he intended to play like this in a qualifier?

Jacks been the best player in that midfield. Its not saying much but still. I agree that isn't his best position though.

Wilshere has been fine, but why in the world would they waste him in that position? Put Henderson, who has been invisible, in front of the back four, let Wilshere play Delph's role and put Milner or the Ox wherever it was Henderson was supposed to be playing.

I'm afraid he might cop a lot of criticism if England do not get the result in this game.

His worst moments have come when he has tried to dribble, doesn't look very confident and that has little to do with his position.
He has kept it simple when on the ball, the position requires him to do so. He is just not showing up enough and when faced with the game his reading of it is poor. He should have intercepted a couple of passes.

Yep, his movement hasn't been good and his defensive contribution is non-existent. What the dribbling bit has to do with his position is that dribbling is high reward low risk higher up the pitch, but, where he's been trying it, it is low reward and very high risk.

Well, my point was, he doesn't look like a dribbler the way he is playing currently, position notwithstanding.

Visibly better at the start of this half though.

Stones may be a promising CB, but, he is useless as a full-back. Forget about getting past a man, he doesn't even want to make a run past an opposition player. Chambers would be much more fearless in that position.

Look at that powerful running to get on the end of that cross. Something we've really missed when Theo's been out. Now we've got Welbeck and Alexis that can provide that sort of power and pace.
