I really think the referee ought to stop the match the second someone throws shit onto the field. Give them one warning and after that just abandon the game and fine the team whose fans were responsible. This happened in Algeria, but last season I saw someone throw an eight ball onto the pitch in Premier League. Outcome could have been the same.

But this is on another level, its a criminal offense not just a football one.

So many football related offenses that could easily turn into heavy crimes though, just like this one. Take pitch invaders for instance. One of these days some nutter is bound to run out there with a concealed knife in his pocket. The solution to these problems so far in all the major European leagues has been to look the other way.

It should say pitch invaders will be shot. I think it should be treated as the most serious offense you can commit in a football stadium that isn't already a crime.

Not sure this really needed a clarification, but I'm not advocating the shooting of pitch invaders. I meant as a sharp warning. Make people understand that it's a very serious offense and that any offender will be treated as a potential danger to the players' lives.

There's little point of having a sharp warning if you're not willing to enforce it. People would catch on eventually. I think more publicity of pitch invaders getting prosecuted would suffice.
