He should be, but then again you never know with Wenger. Basically, you know what you get with Giroud, but with Morata there is every reason to believe he will improve way beyond Giroud's level with a bit of faith from the manager.

Theo Walcott started last season ahead of Giroud. I'm pretty sure Morata would get a fair crack at establishing himself as our first choice striker.

Yes, i hope so too, but Rex nailed it with "you never know with Wenger". Was exactly what i meant. He loves the big guy 🙂

If I remember correctly, Welbeck started over Giroud too when he signed. Wenger has tried all internal solutions only to find that Giroud is better than all of them in the long run.

We signed Welbeck that season because Giroud got injured though, so technically it doesn't count. But Danny did start ahead of Giroud when he came back last season. After the Leicester game he got a run up front I think.

He got a run because we had ran Giroud absolutely ragged and he was physically and mentally shot.

Maybe. Giroud's terrible fitness is part of what makes him an unappealing starter though. He began the season on the bench and was still completely shot in February. We simply can't enter the season with him as first choice.

Yeah, Giroud as a squad option is fine by me. He can be very very useful, but the problem is that he cant keep it up the whole year and Wenger has been overusing him for years.

I don't see why that would be an appealing move for him, beyond the wages I guess. It's the club that gave up on him, which is currently in the Europa League and has a manager who would try to turn him into a workhorse.

I can definitely see how it would be interesting. United are still the biggest English club. They have a great combination of veteran and youth talent in midfield and attack with him. It would be his team, and he'd get paid 12-15m pounds a year. He was sold by Ferguson, not Mourinho. And there's precedence. Look at how Matic came running back when Chelsea called.

Yeah, i can take it that they managed to convince and ageing Zlatan.
I can take it that they overpaid quite alot and are basically swapping Mata for Mkhitariyan.
I can take it that they paid £30m+ for someone like Bailly ...

... but i cant take it that they could actually pull a genuine superstar of world football again to build their team around. If he is moving, he needs to move to genuine giants like Real only.
