He's better than Reus too, no?
Anyway, want Sanchez now so Griezmann would be kind of a let down.
Antoine Griezmann
If were are going to get in new wide attackers we need to get top quality. Alexis, Pedro, Sterling and such like
Can Sanchez even play LW? I mean, I'm sure he'd be able to do it, but has he actually ever played there at any point in his career?
Podolski and caz can play left
Yeah, and Walcott and Wilshere can play on the right... We need a LW way more than we need a RW.
Wouldn't suprise me if Wenger is planning on using him as a striker, meh. I'd rather we got Sanchez who is available for the same price.
Yes please. If we're not going for Draxler anymore then he is ideal for LW. Can make runs on the left same way as Walcott on the right. Giroud will benefit greatly from playing with those two.
He's included in the French WC squad?
It'd be interesting to see if he's used at all.
I like the idea of him as a goalscoring winger, but haven't seen enough to have any proper instinctive feelings about him.
Never liked this guy. Seems like a flop in the making. Better than nothing but would prefer Vela, Sanchez or Reus.
What's it in particular about him that you don't like Kurtz?
Every time I watched him play he seemed peripheral and not as fast as I like wingers to be. But the stats don't lie he's had a great season. I'd rather get Vela for 3m then Antoine for 20m.
Hmm. Peripheral in the way Podolski is peripheral during games?
Not really involved in moving the attack forward or creating?
Highlights of his goals, passing and dribbling.
Looks an interesting player to me. I like the look of him. Want.
Agree with Kurtz, I'm also not hugely impressed. Carlos Vela has got the better touch, skill, vision, passing and dribbling ability IMO. He's the one that runs their attack. I really can't understand why we are willing to pay so much for him when we can get Vela for 3m. But I'm sure our scouts have watched both of them extensively, they might know something we don't.
The player that I rate the most in that Sociedad team is Pardo and the coach doesn't always start him, so what do I know.
Btw Vela has a very good understanding with Griezmann, Vela always picks out his runs with threaded passes.
We don't need someone to "run our attack". We have Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, and Wilshere to do that. We need off-the-ball movement and end product. I agree that Vela plays great threaded passes to Griezmann, but we don't need the passer, we need the guy on the other end. I'd prefer a more complete player like Alexis but adding a left-sided Theo with less pace and more polish would be good for the squad.
We have podolski for that. Guy registers so much. He was hampered by injury this season
Podolski doesn't make the runs that Griezmann (or Walcott) does. He has to be in the penalty box to be an effective player.
Cant see us signing this guy, a forward, AND keeping Podolski.
It's two of the three for me - all three would be amazing and probably what is needed, but is not Wenger's style.
In an ideal world i'd like us to sign Sanchez over Griezmann and sell Podolski and bring in Benzema.
Realistically we will keep Podolski and sign just Remy!
you guys might be surprised how effective a player can be when played in his favoured position. griezmann is far from the most skilled player we could play on the left, but id rather have him there than poldi, jack, caz, draxler, ozil etc.
Griezmann is a decent player but we should be aiming higher, or sorting out the centre forward first.
Gurgen wrote:Looks a bit like a left footed Freddie. Get him in.
He is nowhere near as accomplished as Freddie was defensively.
He looks chod to me.
French Matt Jarvis
Heard he played some good stuff for France tonight, linked up well with Giroud, found plenty of space.
Is he a wide player who stays way out wide as opposed to regularly ending up in the centre?
He does both. If the ball is on the other flank he almost every time gets in the box like a striker. He is equally comfortable going on the outside, or cutting in.
Oh, and can someone fix the topic line? Irks me that his name is wrong...
@jeromepugmire
The way Wenger said "It's like Pires" when Griezmann scored and then drooled over his composure ... could be a busy summer for Antoine ....
@jeromepugmire
Arsene Wenger says "It's like Pires" when commentating on Griezmann's first international goal for France. Interesting comment there ....
Not the first time Wenger has talked him up
#FreeGriezmann
Slight deflection off the Paraguay defender. Nice goal though.
get him in. a guy that makes runs and can finish from the left would be so useful. weve had too many number 10s playing there, and theo will inevitably be crocked at some point again next season. we need to keep the goal threat alive when he's out of the team
I reckon this lad could be lethal for us.
Pretty good chance we'll sign him IMO.
Goals, pace, and directness off the left; he'd be great for us.
Don't think saying a finish is like Pires is a sign that we are signing hum... just means it's a Pires like finish.
Wouldn't mind him replacing Poldi, he can't be as static.
Rex wrote:Goals, pace, and directness off the left; he'd be great for us.
Never seen him play, but he seems to have all the qualities we're looking forward.
Makes me wonder why there's not more enthusiasm for him. Is he just not that great? Or is it that he's not an exiting, hyped name?
It's because we have a better player in podolski
You're just trolling now Dules.
I love Podolski to bits, but he is clearly a worse fit for us than Griezmann. I am far from certain that Griezmann would put up better numbers than Podolski, since Podolski's points to minutes played ratio is bloody excellent, but I much prefer a player who stretches defenses more.
Podolski hasn't been fully fit for a few years now. More talented player
