We sure can. The problem may just be the wage structure at the club. Other than inflated transfer fees, the bigger problem these oil clubs have created is of unreasonable wages. Cavani won't come for less than what PSG is giving him and in paying him that amount we sure will disturb the scales a little.

We seem to have a great spirit at the club and good bonding amongst the players which should only be strengthened by the Cup win. I just hope breaking the structure doesn't make a big difference to it.

Or we are rich enough now to pay the top top wages across.

40M euros is "only" around £32M (today's exchange rate), the way things are going it could be a lot closer to £30M in a month's time... so a deal at £22-25M + add ons possible ?

They don't want 40 million euros though. They want more than 40 million euros. It's all conjecture at this point but I can't see Arsenal pay that kind of money for a striker who's anything but the finished product. His salary demands are in the top bracket too.

I suppose we need to establish what the real underlying parameters of a big striker deal are this summer and make it work. Leaving aside absurdities like £80m for Bale, we certainly can't afford to reject that reality—in another season prices will probably be even more inflated.

Presumably Milan will be hoping that PSG or another club is ready to offer silly money for Balotelli, especially if huge names like Cavani and Suarez are also on the move. If that's the case, we may be in trouble. If it's not, their valuation won't be so steep for so long.

I'm guessing we will wait as long as possible, as usual. Shame.

How do milan expect to make a profit on Balo?

He hasn't stepped up his game and unless there is a bidding war for him I can't see the price going above what they paid. If he is on the wages that are reported then they will want him off the book and will take a hit on the fee to do so. At the moment I don't see Wenger pushing an unfinished Balotelli to the front of out CF cue ahead of Giroud, who has been Wenger's latest development project.

Balotelli is just a project player. He's not worth anything over 25m or anywhere close to our top earner. Not at this moment anyway.

I am willing to bet we are not gonna pay a dime over 30 mill for Balo. personally i woudn't go over 25 mill for him. Great players yearn and earn their success, else they are just good players

You pay top dollar for special potential; it was always so in the last 10 years. Balotelli certainly falls in that category.

He is gonna be 24 soon. He is what he is. Unless he adds something extra he is going to remain like he is. He is a special player alright and i am sure he will calm down as he matures, but as of today i don't us paying 35-40 mill for him. Else he would just be 'marquee' or a 'luxury' signing IMO

Balotelli would certainly not be a 'luxury' signing when we have had Olivier bloody Giroud leading our line for 2 years. 😆

Listen, Higuain moved to Napoli last summer for a fee in excess of £30m. Paying that or thereabouts for Balotelli is not a bad deal. I'd say that is the going rate. If we can get him cheaper that is fine of course, but £30m is hardly ott.

He doesn't have to add anything. He is quite special with regards technique and physical attributes. Question is if he can improve on every aspect of his game. A lot of players including someone like Suarez have improved a lot in the last 3 years and Suarez is 28 now.

Balotelli could explode, well in a number of ways but it will be great if we have him if he does in all the right ones.

He is a 1 in 2 striker already, which means he is already an upgrade on Eeyore in goals scored; that is completely disregarding all his other attributes too where he shits all over Eeyore from a great height. It is hardly unreasonable to think that he will add more goals to his game in the coming years.
