Would Alves be a decent acquisition for 2 years? Mascherano would be intriguing as well as a DM who can swing to central defense
Alves is still very good on the ball (going forward), but he's dropped a lot physically. At his best he used to go up and down the pitch 300 times for 90 minutes, he isn't capable of doing that any more (or partly because of laziness?). He doesn't get back often to stop counters.
He's also on high wages. He can definitely do a job for us, but I'd rather invest on a more long-term option
if that long term option doesn't appear, i think he might be worth a punt, especially if we are bringing in a solid DM like Martinez

I don't think Pedro/Alves/Song will leave. Also, most of those players are squad filler that Barca can easily replace with the next batch of La Masia graduates

They'd be mad if they did. Surely a man as smart as Pep would be looking to offload the likes of Mandzukic/Shaquiri before Goetze. I would even get rid of Ribery or Robben before him, two 30+ wingers whose games are fairly reliant on pace

Apparently that's what the Catalan press are reporting. Luis Enrique is going to be their new boss.
Who would defend in that line up? Or are we going the old "we'll keep the ball more and score more than them" routine?
