"People know that you have the resources and they want you to buy players from clubs who do not need your resources and who are not necessarily prepared to sell."

Basically Real don't want to sell Benzema.

So move on and buy someone else.

Yup...time to close this up.

on expecting a signing…
Wenger: I expect like you but at the moment we are not close.

Wenger: When you want to buy something you go to see the owner and if he doesn’t want to sell, he doesn’t want to sell. You cannot buy. In our job it is exactly like that. When the players are not free you cannot buy them because it’s the club who decides, the person who owns the contract who decides.

Real will not sell Benzema, it was clear all along.

Impossible. Real Madrid are the only club we're allowed to buy players from now when we have some money.

Hah, Wenger parrots back what I've said before. How much money you have is irrelevant after a certain point. The two bigger factors are whether the club wants to sell and if the player wants to leave.

Who are the other options?

Aubameyang? He doesn't look possible, either.
Lacazette?

I'm not the one who's being paid millions to scout players and strengthen the team. Clubs all around us both in the league and Europe have signed players throughout the summer, and you think it's impossible for Arsenal to make a signing that improves us?

You can only sign free agents, otherwise its impossible, players just aren't available.

wait is that reus thing real or was it a photoshop

It's fucking ridiculous we are like the only club in the world that follows rules by the book. When someone say they are not available, we just give up without a fight. We will only go for players that are available.

What are we? Some 2nd rate club?

We don't, we're just not dicks about it. Neither are most clubs.

Compared to Real Madrid? Unfortunately yes.

I find all this recent hysteria a bit funny. City signing a couple of players really brought up the inferiority complex in some. Their best players are still Agüero and Toure. At the end of the day, those are the players that will make a difference over the league season. Take those two away and you got a team of De Bruynes, Sterlings and Fernandinhos- comparable to ours.

Adding the likes of Higuain, Aubameyang, Schneiderlin etc. isn't going to take us any closer to City or the title, because they still have Agüero and Toure. Those are the level of players we need to add to our squad and it looks like that's what we're trying to do with Benzema(and have done with Cech, Alexis and Özil).

And Silva.

We're all scouts these days. It's 2015. You can download an entire seasons worth of matches for most clubs. Long gone are the days where players are hidden in obscure places.

What striker can we sign?

No, we're not. And we're not being paid to make these deals happen.

You're evading my question to make your straw man point though, so I'll ask again: we have eleven players in the team. Do you honestly think it's impossible for a club like Arsenal to sign anyone that could improve us without having to pester Real Madrid on the off chance that they will sell us some superfluous player?

I think we only lack a striker. A striker of Cavani or Benzema's quality. Anyone other than that is not good enough and a waste of time.

Maybe if you have no life.
