How much will he cost?

I find stats (like those listed on the prior page) relatively unconvincing when judging a player. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gibbs have comparable or "better" stats than Sagna and yet we all know Sagna is miles ahead of Gibbs (particularly defensively).

I don't think Gibbs defensive stats would be close to Sagnas.

What would put me off about those stats is trying to compare Ligue Uh to the Premier League.

I think what Mr T means is stats not measuring intangibles.

If we asked Toulouse for a straight swap between Sagna and Aurier they would probably laugh and think we were pulling their leg.

Yeah because Sagna is a free agent.

A guy on twitter saying he met Aurier yesterday (in Ivory Coast training camp, he has a picture with Aurier) and he says he has a video on him confirming he's joining Arsenal.

If true it is fantastic news. I think he will be a revelation here and has pedigree to play a starting role.

This seals it for me:

@Hektor1886 has always been a reliable source

"too many tweets make a twat" - David Cameron

😆

Aurier himself is now retweeting a tweet from a fan with a video of Aurier apparantly telling the fan he's coming to Arsenal.

Hopefully this one is done so we can move on to more pressing issues.

😆 not sure he understood the question, was just saying yes to anything

That's the impression I got too. Just kept saying yes

On https://twitter.com/Serge_Aurier he retweeted the video that clearly says "Serge Aurier tells an Arsenal fan that he is joining Arsenal". I don't know what to make of this

Yeah the video is not as encouraging as i thought, he seemed confused more than anything.

I'm sure he understood otherwise why would he retweet it? As far as I'm concerned this is a done deal.

I get the feeling that this is a bit like the van der Wiel rumours a few years back.

I get a feeling it is like Higuain last summer; we feel confident we can get this guy but he isn't our first choice, he will eventually get tired of waiting and sign for someone else, we will be stuck with Jenkinson. 🙁

Except Aurier is not a £30 million player. If we wanted him he would have signed right after the final kick of the season.

Except that Higuain was basically a done deal, but Perez changed the price at the very last minute and we backed down.

I was obviously not talking about price, and as far as I know Real Madrid changing the price is just a rumor. What Toulouse is doing regarding a fee is anybody's guess.
What Klaus is saying sounds about right though in the respect that if Aurier was a priority, then we probably could have signed him already. We haven't though. Right now, to me it looks quite a bit like the Higuain situation; we have been in contact with the club and the player, and at least the player sounds willing to come. Yet, we haven't finalized anything, and if we keep dragging it out it is far from unreasonable that the player chooses to go somewhere else.

The transfer window isn't even open yet is it?! We don't announce things that are official at Arsenal. I'm not sure this could possibly in any world count as "dragging it out".

It's been open since midnight on the final league day.

Is Wayne Veysey reliable?

Kind of true:

Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played.

Very unreliable, probably the shittest journalist for Arsenal out there.

I think wikipedia is outdated: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/when-does-transfer-window-open-close.html

When does the transfer window open and close?

There are two transfer windows in each Barclays Premier League season.

The first commences at midnight on the last day of the season and ends on 31 August if a working day - or, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.

The second transfer window commences at midnight on the 31 December and ends on the 31 January if a working day, and again, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.

Although in this context it doesn't matter much. The French transfer window opens on July 1 so Aurier can't be registered in England before then. He could sign a contract with Arsenal in advance though, but the transfer won't be processed by the French FA for another month.

Yea, makes sense. Arsenal really don't announce anything until it's all said and done though. I just don't think we can complain about Arsenal waiting too long to get deals done just yet, it's only barely begun.

Aye, I'm not complaining. I just think Aurier would have been done by now, contract wise, if he were our main target.

Excellent for team and injury news, he clearly has a contact at the club. Rubbish for transfers and the rest though.

Rumour has it that Dean aka AFCAMDEN is giving Veysey is info now on team news. That's why it suddenly got so reliable and Dean himself stopped tweeting this stuff. Transfers are bollocks as always, because these sites live on clicks, so they must write something.

David Ornstein. No one else is actually reliable. Jeremy Wilson is shit as well.

Yeah, well Ornstein is the only one who doesnt have to whore himself out for the clicks.

Oh great, again an African that will go to the Africa Cup around the time we usually feel our lack of depth. We should never go for those players unless they are absolutely world class, like Drogba. Otherwise that is one big negative, like now.

Rumours about twitter ITKs, the transfer window has finally come full circle. 😆
