Fortunately he has the pace to make up for his positional mistakes. As you say on the ball he needs to improve. He does have a good cross though and with his pace he gets into positions to use it.

Jenko ain't going anywhere on loan and will fight to become Sagna's replacement for years to come. We'll probably see him a lot next season, he needs to improve quickly otherwise it might cost us.

It would be pretty pathetic is he thought he couldn't. Reality is we need someone better who has had more games as a first team player.

Don't think Jenkinson's crossing or on ball ability is notably (if at all) worse than Sagna's. From an athletic stance he has Sagna beat in stamina but losses out in regards to strength and aerial ability.

While he's close in some areas he's so far off in other aspects - mainly his ability to dominate a flank without requiring our winger to help (much). Sagna's defensive ability is a huge part of the reason Theo is afforded such an offensive role in our team. Can't see that working as well with Jenkinson as his FB.

Jenkinson doesnt understand what his teammates need from him. That's the biggest issue with him.

y va: somehow i doubt that. if wilshere was truly 100% fit, then he would've played more in the fa cup final when we were pretty short on legs.

jenko is obviously worse on the ball than sagna. it's not about what tricks you can do, it's what you actually do with the ball, and jenko has no short passing game. sagna was our best short passing fullback. one would think gibbs would be, but he's shown very little aptitude for passing it out from the back.

Gibbs is better at playing out from the back. Sagna gets to the half way line and passes back to Mertesacker more often than not.

I love Sagna to bits, but Mertesacker/Arteta/Sagna is the triangle of death.

Wenger was just making sure he didn't gamble on Wilshere the way he gambled on Ramsey earlier this season. As soon as Jack picked up that hairline fracture it became a matter of getting him back in good shape next season.

I mentioned that this was probably the case in the World Cup thread a few weeks back. He has the friendlies now to prove his fitness.

Theo is the one player I'll be absolutely livid at if after he's fully developed, he leaves us for another club for more money.

I feel like he may not realize that his popularity with the fans is more due to our largesse rather than him being anything especially special.

Your point still stands though. If we still had the likes of Bergkamp and Henry, he wouldn't be nearly as popular as he is now.
