Not sure where to put this, or to post on the topic at all, but I'll do it anyway and I'll put it here!
We all recognize that Özil has not been at his best here. I think it is fair to say that his form took a turn for the worse around Christmas last season. I was one of those who attributed his loss of form to Ramsey's injury, and I still think it contributed quite a bit, but perhaps there are other factors? Now, I usually stay away from gossip, so this was news to me when I read it on Arseblog. You people may know of all this since a long time for all I know!
Turns out that Mesut was sued, by his father no less, around Christmas. It also seems like the triggering cause was his father's bad breakup from Mesut's mother. Apparently the case has now been settled out of court with Özil having paid his father off with around £500k. The money is one thing which he can certainly afford, but his parents divorcing, his relationship with his dad destroyed, being sued by your father, and then also what seems to be a bad breakup with his own girlfriend. So what I am wondering, really, is whether these circumstances are more to 'blame' for his lack of form for us than anything else? Personally, I'd be absolutely gutted if I had to go through all these things in the space of 9 months, and I am quite certain it would have had a massive effect on how I would manage to carry out my own job. Thoughts?
