Completely agree with this.
It doesn't excuses Arsenal's general failures in the transfer market. But it does speak to just how unwanted Balotelli has become.
The logic is clearly flawed, though. All top clubs in Europe have several top strikers on their books. We don't have any.
Exactly none of the top clubs need a striker. We on the other hand desperately needed one . Liverpool already had Sturridge and have now strengthened the position.
Hmmm. I suppose there's always the possibility that being in Liverpool will tip him right over the edge.
Don't think we'll regret not signing Balotelli at all.
It's not Balotelli specifically. If we sign a striker, then great, who cares. If we don't, we'll regret the fact that there were strikers to be signed and we didn't do the business.
If we aren't in for him I reckon it's because we either (a) think he'll be an overly disruptive influence or (b) we think there's a chance of getting someone else who is better before the window closes. I'm not saying the latter is a guarantee but I can't disagree with the thinking.
For me, only B is really worth considering.
You left out (c) we are fully committed to a Giroud/Sanogo strikeforce.
:ew:.

Pretty sure that Wenger has said that Sanchez is our striker signing and will play there once theo is back.
I still think that if an opportunity arises before the window closes, for say Benzema, we'll go for it.

THE Benzema who just signed an extension?
Personal terms are one issue, with the forward seeking £160,000-a-week but likely to be offered less by Liverpool.

That would obviously be more than Mesut Ozil's 140k a week. Don't rate Giroud at all but don't want this waster sitting on 100k plus contract for 4-5 years.

Doesn't mean much, he constantly calls Theo and Podolski "strikers" yet never plays them up top.
He never explicitly says that they will play up top.
Our wings are "forwards" in Wengers terminology.
The club are ready to offer a five-year deal worth more than £120,000 a week.
BBC reg Balotelli
Crazy from Liverpool.
