If the deal is done this early then we never had a chance. Was obvious from the way Simone was talking a few weeks ago that something was in the pipeline.

I just hope we've also laid the groundwork for a signing or two however I've not particularly hopeful.

i really hope we don't go to the World Cup with Chelsea, United and Liverpool having signed up tons of good players while Wenger smells his finger. There's a real possibility this will happen.

Calm about this summer, Ozil last summer said he was excited about our plans for the future and I doubt he'd have joined if Wenger never promised him big signings going forward. Costa to Chelsea has been on for months now and I'd take a few other strikers possibly available over him anyway.

it's not really costa's ability that's a draw to me, it's his do or die attitude and workrate. no-one in our first side has that almost sick, pathological desire to win, to the extent where you suspect they're barely functional human beings off the pitch. we need 1 or 2 of those.

Im actually hoping we pick up Lukaku if we fail to get a bigger target like Benzema.

Costa to Chelsea, Luiz to Barca.

Financially the two transfers cancel each other out, presumably leaves Chelsea with lots of cash to spend on other areas. Once a striker is sorted they badly need someone in midfield imo.

It's possible that part of his game is less effective cos premiership defenders are far more physical than those in la liga

Costa will only help Chelsea in those big games with his style but I'm not sure how effective he'll be in the games where Chelsea struggle, against a deep, tight defence.

I was surprised how much Cahill dominated him physically in the CL.

Few people said he doesn't look all that already including myself, and got jumped on for 'knee jerk' reactions after the Chelsea games.

Besides, it's usually the opposite on this place. I remember when Chelsea signed Sidwell he went from being a player nobody cared about to someone we were crazy to let slip through the net.

I think he fits Chelsea perfectly. Best striker out there for them, because he is a counter attacking striker and with Mourinho liking to defend first and foremost, he can be that striker to win things for them.

Personally skeptical if he fits our possession football because whenever Atletico is on the frontfoot he doesn't seem at home.
